General Questions

Can I use my health insurance? How much reimbursement should I expect?

If you have out-of-network (PPO) benefits on your health insurance, you can submit your invoices from your Wisdom appointments to your health insurance. We do not bill insurance directly on our end.

It's difficult to give an estimate of how much reimbursement you will get from your out-of-network benefits. It depends on a number of factors, including:

  • Whether you've met your deductible (the amount you must pay annually before your insurance kicks in)
  • Your specific policy
  • The type of treatments you receive.

Our billing structure allows us to offer you the best treatments available and significantly more time with a doctor. Working with your insurance often limits the type of treatment offered, and we advise most clients to go outside their insurance while seeking holistic or alternative care.

Can I see a doctor in-person? How are sessions done?

We have doctors all over the country. We can try to match you with a practitioner you can see in person. If there's not a practitioner close enough to see in person, all our doctors also do telehealth.

Telemedicine is extremely effective for functional medicine, as we can do testing anywhere in the country, and do not require a physical examination.

Can my Wisdom doctor prescribe medications?

Many people don't realize Naturopathic and Functional doctors can prescribe medications just like conventional doctors in most states. If you need a practitioner who can write you prescriptions, make sure:

  • The practitioner you are working with is in your state of residence.
  • Your state of residence allows Naturopathic Doctors to prescribe.

What type of doctors are Wisdom doctors?

We have both holistically-trained medical doctors and Naturopathic Doctors. All our doctors have training in both modern conventional medicine and some form of holistic medicine.

Many people don't realize Naturopathic Doctors of licensed doctors who can do almost everything a medical doctor can do, including prescribe medications.

How does testing work?

We can order lab tests anywhere in the country (except New York, New Jersey, and Rhode Island). Your practitioner will work with you to find the easiest way to do testing. We can send you to a local partner lab for blood work. Other tests such as stool tests and breath tests can be sent directly to your home.

Do you take Insurance or an HSA/FSA?

Every patient is different, but if you have out-of-network health insurance, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement from your insurance. Many of our members receive as much as 70% of our services reimbursed.

We can help match you with a doctor that accepts payment from an HSA/FSA.
